Inspired by Rorschach tests & refraction, this collection is an investigation of perception, illusion, and delusion.
When looking at this garment, various shapes, figures and images can be perceived.
The garment itself becomes a Rorschach test, as one’s own perceptions are considered & decoded.
During the design process, focus was placed on symmetry, curved lines, and clean aesthetics.
Mirrored elements & organic shapes reference the ink-blot tests; balanced by the streamlined silhouette.
Back View
Knitwear elements, alongside lingerie techniques, were incorporated into the design.
Traditionally, boning & underwire applications are not utilized in knitwear.
The designer wanted to explore combining both aesthetics.
The jacquard pattern was inspired by ink-blot tests, which were used to diagnose mental illness
in the mid 20th century.
The double jacquard was designed & programmed by Bailey Sperling.
The top & harness overlay were fully fashioned on a hand-frame knitting machine.
